Terms of use
How to use IceRig Workshop content and stay within its limits
IceRig Workshop hosts DIY ideas, wiring diagrams and bench-test notes for under-ice rigs. These terms describe what you can do with that material, where you must be careful and how we handle user contributions.
By browsing the site or re-creating one of the projects, you accept these terms. If you disagree with any part of them, please do not use the site or base real-world builds directly on our examples.
1. Not professional advice
All content on IceRig Workshop is provided for hobby use and inspiration only. The projects are not certified equipment, and the bench-tests are simplified checks performed in a small workshop, not in a formal laboratory.
You are responsible for verifying that any rig, shelter or electronic mod you build is safe, legal and appropriate for your local conditions. When in doubt, follow official safety guidance and local regulations instead of our sketches.
2. Safety and personal responsibility
Working with tools, electricity and cold environments is inherently risky. Ice conditions change quickly and can be dangerous even when a rig is well designed. You agree to:
- check ice thickness and weather conditions using trusted local sources;
- use proper safety gear such as flotation suits, ice picks, throw-ropes and first-aid kits;
- test any build in a controlled environment before taking it onto real ice;
- never rely solely on our projects or bench-tests to judge life-safety risks.
IceRig Workshop is not responsible for accidents, injuries, damage or loss that may occur while you build or use rigs based on our content.
3. Personal, non-commercial use
Unless we expressly state otherwise, you may use IceRig Workshop content for your own personal, non-commercial projects. This includes:
- printing a blueprint for your own sled or shelter;
- adapting wiring diagrams to your personal rig;
- sharing small excerpts or screenshots when linking back to us.
You may not resell our content, publish full copies of our articles or host collections of our images, blueprints or STL files as your own product without written permission.
4. Intellectual property
Unless another source is credited, the text, layouts, images and diagrams on the site are original material of IceRig Workshop. All rights are reserved to the extent allowed by applicable law.
You may create your own rigs inspired by our ideas and share photos or notes about them. However, copying our articles, UI designs or complete blueprint sets and republishing them as your own work is not permitted.
5. Community projects and submissions
Sometimes visitors send us photos, measurements or full project write-ups. By submitting content to IceRig Workshop, you confirm that you have the right to share it and grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to:
- store and display the material on our site;
- edit it slightly for clarity, formatting or translation while keeping the technical details intact;
- reference it in related articles, bench-tests or blueprint packs.
You keep ownership of your original designs and may share them elsewhere. If you later want us to remove or anonymise a community project, contact us and we will do our best to help, subject to technical and legal limits.
6. Availability and changes to the site
IceRig Workshop is a side project and may change or go offline without notice. We may update, archive or remove articles, images, STL files or navigation structure at any time.
We also reserve the right to modify these terms or the privacy policy. When we do, we will adjust the “Last updated” date and, when reasonable, highlight important changes.
7. No warranty
The site and all content are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, IceRig Workshop makes no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of technical details or non-infringement.
Bench-test results, dimensions and parts lists may contain mistakes or become outdated as materials change. Always cross-check critical measurements before cutting, wiring or drilling.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, IceRig Workshop and its maintainers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, revenue or equipment arising out of or in connection with your use of the site or reliance on its content.
Where liability cannot be fully excluded, it will be limited to the amount you have paid directly to IceRig Workshop for access to specific content or services, if any.
9. Links and third-party content
Our articles may link to third-party sites, tools, stores or reference material. These links are provided for convenience only. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, safety, privacy practices or availability of those external resources.
10. Governing law
IceRig Workshop is a hobby project that does not target a specific jurisdiction. Where local law requires a governing law to be named, you agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms will be handled under the laws of the jurisdiction in which the project maintainer resides, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
